The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) aims to deliver on the promise of interoperability with the release of the Interoperability and Patient Access final rule (CMS 9115-F). To help the payers meet the CMS mandate, the Wyoming Department of Health Interoperability Solution enables secure Patient Access API and Provider Directory API to facilitate the movement of data from payer systems (Producers) to the patients (Consumers) accessible via third-party consumer apps.
The Interoperability Solution leverages CARIN Common Payer Consumer Dataset (CPCDS) as anchors, in conjunction with data exchange standards, such as HL7® FHIR®, United States Core Data and Interoperability (USCDI), and CMS-recommended implementation guides (IGs) such as CARIN IG for Blue Button® (C4BB), and HL7® Da Vinci PDEX Plan Net.
